Description

This role supports the broader Marketing Department to develop and execute external communications strategies for several USGBC mission advancement products and to engage stakeholders to increase awareness of and investment in USGBC and LEED. This position is responsible for overseeing relationships with promotional partners and like-minded organizations, high-level member companies, media outlets and other influential stakeholders and for elevating these relationships in the public eye as appropriate. Responsibilities include creating and overseeing an engagement plan for each stakeholder and working with the marketing and communications teams to execute on defined deliverables; devising stakeholder engagement campaigns; and identifying opportunities to promote individual partner, company, and project narratives utilizing internal and external platforms, in cooperation with other members of the communications team.

This role creatively showcases individual success stories as well as trends to promote awareness of LEED in the U.S. market and globally. This role is also responsible for developing and maintaining media and PR/communications campaigns for USGBC’s mission advancement of core products.

Specific Responsibilities Include

  • Oversee relationship management and PR support for select high-level member companies.
  • Oversee USGBC promotional partnerships, establishing agreements and setting goals and strategies for engagement.
  • Oversee/support the strategic elevation of USGBC subject matter experts speaking at events across the United States.
  • Working with the Director, engaging in PR and media outreach, which includes drafting and distributing press releases, managing media campaigns and press relationships, setting up press briefings, pitching and other PR and media outreach activities.
  • Create and manage communications plans for USGBC programs.
  • Leverage individual project profile submissions to identify opportunities for media activity, visual storytelling, case study development, and more.
  • Draft and edit communications materials (talking points/remarks, blogs, columns, op-eds, bios) and any other materials needed by the organization.

Requirements

Education & Training Requirements/Preferences

  • Bachelor's degree required in English, communications, journalism and public relations,
  • Master’s degree a plus

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of Marketing/communications/PR experience
