The USGBC Mountain Region is seeking a passionate and skilled individual to join our team to increase engagement with communities and key target sectors in the green building economy. As a key member of the regional staff, you will have primary responsibility for program planning logistics, communications, volunteer management, member engagement, and sponsor recruitment to establish and grow our impact in USGBC Mountain Region communities and beyond.

As the Project Manager for the Mountain Region, you will be working as part of a dynamic and ambitious U.S. Market Transformation & Development team throughout the United States that collaborates on initiatives across regions and sectors. We are looking for a self-starter with skills in communications, event planning and volunteer engagement who is eager to advance sustainable, healthy, resilient, and equitable buildings and communities.

Preferred hiring locations for this position include Denver, Boise, Phoenix, Seattle, or Portland, however a significant amount of the work will be remote and we will consider other communities in the Mountain Region.

Specific responsibilities

  • Engagement with volunteers, members, partners and other constituents to increase impact of USGBC programs among targeted sectors.
  • Grow and establish relationships with local partner organizations and key allies in targeted sectors.
  • Develop and manage partnerships and projects that improve building performance and outcomes in underserved sectors, schools, cultural institutions, affordable housing, and neighborhoods.
  • Support fundraising implementation for existing programs and conceptualize new programs to attract investment.
  • Manage, grow, and develop new and existing major conferences, events, community programming and initiatives, and related volunteer groups.
  • Cultivate funding sources for local programing, including sponsorships, and ticket sales.
  • Manage and generate website, newsletter and social media content related to local membership and market development updates on USGBC/GBCI programs.
  • Document program outcomes and metrics for the purpose of assessing impact and informing planning.
  • Utilize events and programs to grow local sponsorship, member engagement, and partnership.

Education & training requirements/preferences

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • LEED Green Associate or LEED AP with specialty preferred

Experience requirements

  • 5 years professional experience required
  • Experience with in-person, virtual and hybrid event program planning and management, ideally ranging up to 500+ person conferences.
  • Experience managing ongoing member and stakeholder communications
  • Preferred experience working with volunteers and community-based organizations
  • Preferred experience with fundraising and event management

Other required skills and qualifications

  • Driver’s License, ability, and willingness to drive throughout the specified region (listed above)
  • Willingness to travel occasionally outside the region
  • Working knowledge of the LEED rating system
  • Basic understanding of green building principles and strategies for energy, water, materials, waste, and indoor air quality.
  • Experience in customer-facing roles desired, particularly with members, sponsors, funders, and partners
  • Experience using Excel, Eventbrite, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Salesforce preferred
  • Commitment to USGBC mission
  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including some evening and weekends
